ReplyDeleteDear Jane and Lance,
ReplyDeleteI hope the light of Christmas floods your lives, as a golden, mellow light appears to flood your sitting room above.
We all, I feel, need some time away from talking about our lives, to go and live our lives.
May the time that you have be so good you'll be almost lost for words.
Much love to you,

DO have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Take lots of pics to share with us!!
Hoorah! Hooray! Hoorooo! (Ok, now that last one was a bit silly, I admit but how else am I to properly express my joy at your return?) And to see you both content, lost in the words and graced with warm sun. I can practically smell Timea's cooking wafting from down the hall. Remi was here as I clapped my hands with delight so I showed him your photograph. You see, I am a sneaky devil, tempting him Budapest-wards. I am determined to get there one day!
ReplyDeleteSending an email as well,
Love,
H.

Dear Jane and Lance,
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas and a Happy, Joyous and Healthy New Year to you both! Your home in the photo above looks so lovely , and one has to crutinize carefully to see you both snuggling in those lovely chairs, "Reading a book, I presume?" (Having missed you very much the last month, I wanted to begin with "Dr. Livingstone, I presume?", but thought the better of it).
Your blog is always a delight to me, I learn a lot AND am amused, and for that I want to thank you. I admire your diligence paired with savoir vivre! So have a wonderful time!
Britta

My dear Jane and Lance,
ReplyDeleteHave a merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Hope all is well with you. I adore that pictures of you both. It beautifully capture the essence of you, I thought. If I happen to walk into your drawing room one day, I do expect to see you in the middle of the room occupying in each chair reading and being absorbed in the words you read or said to each other, very genteel and civilised lord and lady of the manor. Your drawing room - my dears, sumptuousness is the last word.
PS. My dears, I have thought that this is the sort of drawing room in which the main character, Gustav von Aschenbach from Thomas Mann's Death in Venice would sit and read or prepare himself in this room for going out to dine and he might put one single red carnation into his button hole while he gazes out from these windows in the background. The atmosphere and the tone of its elegance in the drawing room is like an impressionist painting by Gustave Caillebotte.
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking of sending you an email to say hi and check in (up) on you ;), so I am happy and relieved to see your post. Have a very, very Merry Christmas, and I am looking forward to having you back for the new year!
