Unfortunately we shall be unable to comment or to respond to comments over the next two weeks. However, we shall very much look forward to returning later in the month and, in the meantime, will miss you all.
The image is of 'Interior with Table' by Vanessa Bell, painted in 1921.
We will miss you but of course we look forward to reading all about it on your return.
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful painting - reminds me of The Bloomsbury Group.
Sunny days

I love Vanessa Bell's work - wrote my Art History dissertation about her and Duncan Grant at Charleston many moons ago. Charleston was just about to be opened to the public formthe firsttime and they were kind enough to let me in. It was like stepping into a jewel box. Have a lovely break - Bernice x

ReplyDeleteHope that the reason you are not here for a couple of weeks is because you are off on your travels again and having another great adventure. Will await your return. XXXX

ReplyDeleteDears - I'm thinking of you and hoping your trip is going well and that all news will be good!
ReplyDeleteWe so enjoyed the Baltic cruise and especially the two days in St. Petersburg - what an amazing and beautiful city. Some day I would love to actually stay there for a while during those White Nights, breath it all in more slowly - the architecture, art, history, and then talk more with the people who live in such a wonderful place.
Will be anxious to see you back here soon…………..take care on your travels.
Fondly, Mary
What a lovely painting you selected for this post!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy yourselves. We will look forward to your return.
I recognised the painting immediately as a member of the Bloomsbury Set. What a perfect note to "get away from it all" on.
ReplyDeleteHappy travels Jane and Lance. I love the Vanessa Bell painting - in fact I am very attracted to her work, and have two large framed prints of her work, bought on an exciting visit to Charleston about ten years ago. Enjoy your break!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the introduction of Vanessa Bell. I like this piece of art. Unwind and relax yourself in your summer vacation, Jane and Lance.
